As part of the activities programmed by the El Campillo Environmental Education Center to celebrate The World Day of Birds, last sunday 6th of October, we released of animals from our rescue center.

In front of a large number of attendees, we discussed the problems that accompany such species as the barn owl and the little owl, as well as the actions we are developing in our project Conservation of nocturnal raptors linked to agricultural means,” which we executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Planning of the Community of Madrid.

Finally, we proceeded to the release of two little owls, one recovered in our center this summer, and the other, from our captivity breeding program. These releases are intended to strengthen wild populations of this species, which have declined drastically in last decades due to land work intensification.
